ABDOMINAL ULTRASOUND
An abdominal ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses sound waves to create detailed images of the organs and structures within the abdomen. It helps assess the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys, and other abdominal organs for various conditions such as inflammation/abdominal pain, liver damage, gallstones, kidney stones, enlarged spleen, pancreas problems, tumors, enlarged lymph nodes, or fluid buildup. This procedure is safe, painless, and typically requires no special preparation.

Preparation for Abdominal Ultrasound
-
Do not eat or drink anything for at least 6 hours before your appointment. This reduces gas in the intestines, which can affect image quality.
-
Water for medication is allowed if necessary.
-
Wear loose, comfortable clothing—no need to change into a gown unless asked.
-
If you're unsure about anything or have diabetes or other medical conditions, please contact us for specific instructions.
-
The examination is performed transabdominally and is non-invasive and painless. The Sonographer will move a transducer lubricated with coupling gel over the abdomen. You are welcome to ask questions during or after the examination.
