A thyroid ultrasound is a painless, non-invasive scan used to examine the thyroid gland in your neck. Why a Thyroid Ultrasound is Done:
Check thyroid nodules to see if lumps are benign or may need further testing. Assess thyroid size to detect enlargement (goitre). Guide procedures to helps place needles accurately during biopsies. Monitor changes to track growth or changes in nodules or cysts over time.
Abnormal hormone levels and provides detailed images of the gland’s size, shape, and structure.

Preparation

Wear a loose-fitting top or a shirt with an open collar to allow easy access to your neck.

You can eat and take medication as normal.
