Preparation

Wear a loose-fitting top or a shirt with an open collar to allow easy access to your neck.
You can eat and take medication as normal.
The procedure is generally painless, though some pressure may be felt when the ultrasound probe is placed on the neck.
It's a relatively quick and easy procedure

Ultrasound uses sound waves, so there is no radiation exposure.
